Find out what we got up to during our first year performing as a duo.
How is it December already? As we dust off the decorations and dig out our winter woollies and of course, compulsory Christmas jumpers, we can't help but reflect upon what a fantastic year 2019 has been for us!
With many private parties lined up, as well as festive busks at the Arundel by Candlelight festival on Saturday 7th and Horsham Food Rocks market on Sunday 8th, we'll continue to be busy spreading Christmas cheer across the county this month. Come and listen to our new twinkly Christmas tunes to help you get in the festive spirit!
Having sorted out our festive set, made plans for our Christmas meal (high priority!) and learnt the basics of some new songs, we shall be spending the next few weeks polishing and perfecting our playing to ensure it sparkles at all our festive gigs. We have several private performances lined up and are hoping to squeeze in a busk at some point too so we can share our shiny new flyers with you... Keep your fingers crossed for a dry weekend! We'll keep you posted on the details.
Having taken a short break in September to focus on choosing some new material for our Christmas set and make plans for the year ahead, rehearsals started in earnest again this month. Sadly the weather prevented us from getting out and about as much as we would have liked to, but we still managed to do a few private gigs. We are now taking bookings for Christmas 2019 and beyond, so please do get in touch if you'd like us to provide some chilled out ambient music for your special event.
After such a busy summer, we took things easy this month, doing just a few small gigs including the end point for a Classic Car Rally, a Macmillan Coffee Morning, and a cheeky little busk in Arundel. We started to learn some new material for our set and have been building up our online profile. You can now find us across most social media sites including: Instagram, Twitter, SoundCloud, Facebook and LinkedIn using #rgsteelpan. We are now featured on 'Last Minute Musicians' too, so there are lots of ways you can contact us!
August was our busiest month yet with lots of private parties and events across the South East, including BBQs, Tiki Nights and of course, the Arundel Festival. We were also out and about with the Sussex Steel Community Band a fair bit, performing in Madhurst Carnival and Pagham on Parade. After such a busy month, we're taking a short break in September to focus on learning some new material and start preparing our set for, dare we whisper the magic word...Christmas!
July was another hectic month for us, with many gigs, busks and fetes. We had lots going on with Sussex Steel Community Band to: 'Steel the Show' in Ashington on 14th July and a long weekend in Swanage at the end of the month, participating in the summer festivities.
We also performed at our 2nd wedding of the year which was a lovely relaxed occasion and are looking forward to another busy month in August with at least two bookings every weekend!
June was another busy month for us. We performed at our first wedding of the year, which was a fantastic day - the sun shone and the atmosphere was extremely chilled... we even ended up teaching a few children how to play! We also performed at a rather blustery Lions Charity Street Fayre in Rustington, Rose Green Infant School summer fete and did a short busk outside Aunt Bunny's Hut in Worthing. With more enquiries coming in after every outing, it's proving to be a very busy and rather successful summer for us!
Having caught up on rehearsals and memorised some of our new material, May launched us full force into our 2019 summer season. We performed at Fontwell car boot sale, and busked in both Arundel and Horsham. We also brought the sunshine to Hotham Park in Bognor for one of their 'music in the park' events and entertained a couple of private parties over in the Witterings area. We received lots of lovely comments and appreciation from audiences which is always a fantastic boost to our confidence!
With Becky back from her trip around Europe, rehearsals were in full swing again this month, preparing for the busiest time of year. With some new Disney tunes lined up, as well as more beautiful chilled out melodies perfect for wedding receptions, our set list continues to flourish and grow. We can't wait to share our new music with you!
